Built
in 1912, this building was the site
of the original boiler room for the
Reynolds Family Estate. All of
the outbuildings and houses itself
were powered by this source of
energy, which was coal.
Several chutes in the back rooms of
the restaurant still exist today
where the coal was shoveled into the
building.
In
addition, what is now the Vineyards
wine cellar, formerly housed the
underground access for all
utilities, power cables and lines.
To this day, the incredible
underground tunneling system serves
as an important conduit to service
and maintain the Village and many of
its special needs.
